Weekly Devotional, April 30th 2013

It is such a privilege and honor to know that we have a living God who calls each of us because of His grace and mercy, giving us the opportunity to have life in Him.  
(Ephesians 2:8-10)  The only way we can be made right with God is through Jesus apart from ourselves . God created each of us for His purpose that we can live each day not only knowing Him, but taking every moment to be used by Him.  Day to day we need to die to ourselves knowing that if we are filled with the Holy Spirit we are set apart to live our lives reflecting the light of Jesus in all we do.  That means we can't live our lives giving God only a short moment each day or one day each week, but there should be a complete reflection of Him in who we are.  The bible says we are a new creation and that we are made new.  (2 Corinthians 5:17)  In everything we do, whether working, celebrating, spending time with friends or time alone, nothing is hidden from the sight of God and all should be done reflecting how God has not only changed our lives, but as an opportunity to be used by Him.  (Hebrews 4:13)  The bible says in (John 15:5) that apart from Him we can do nothing.  The more we leave God out the farther we come from hearing His voice or our steps being guided by His hand.  If a home is filled with things of the world, our hearts will reflect all that has been taken in and everything that is poured out of our lives will be with empty purpose.  If we are centered on Christ, our home, our personal time and all that we participate in will bring glory to God. We will see His hand at work in our lives filling us with thankfulness and joy that can't be quenched by the trials of this world.  Leaving us filled with His spirit, satisfied, complete in the fullness of God acknowledging Him in all we do, resulting in a life that is led by God not of ourselves.  (Hebrews 13:21)  Let's take this week to be reminded of who we are in Christ and ask Him to speak to our hearts, making clear the things we need to allow Him to change in us.  So that we live our lives seeing each day with a focus on eternity and what really matters in our lives.
